The Amazon Forest is considered the largest and beautiful forest of the world and it is too big that it will dominate over all the rain forests of the world. This great forest basically is spread around 8 countries namely Bolivia, French Guyana, Brazil, Surinam, Peru, Ecuador, Columbia and Venezuela. Amazon Forest covers more than 5.5 million square kilometers, and it is considered a home to the different kinds of animals and vegetation.
2-Taiga Forest
The Taiga Forest is regarded as the second largest forest in the world. It is also known as the "Boreal Forests" because it is not only a forest but a biome land consisting of coniferous forests. This great forest of the world basically consists of minimum one-third of all the trees in the whole world. The Taiga forest is located just below a tundra line that's why it receives the sunlight only for one month in a year and has the greatest impact on the Carbon dioxide levels.
3-Congo Rain Forest
The Congo Rain Forest is also included in our list of the largest and most famous forests of the world. The Congo Rain Forest basically derived its name from a famous river flowing, known as the "Congo River" and regarded as the longest river in the world. This Congo Forest basically encompasses the more than seventy percent of the plant cover in the subcontinent of Africa. Both these Congo River and Congo Forest are the subject of the famous novel by Joseph Conrad, known as the "Heart of Darkness".
4-Daintree Forest
The Fourth greatest and largest forest of the world is the Daintree Forest, which is situated in the North-Eastern part of the Queensland, Australia. It is regarded as the oldest surviving rainforest in the world and according to an estimation, it is almost 135 million years old. This largest rain forest of Australia basically covers more than 2600 square kilometers and it is considered the home to a great number of different plants and animals.
5-Ecuador Cloud Forest
You will be really amazed to hear the name of this forest, it is a cloud forest not only be name but by its characteristic of having a foggy cloud cover throughout the forest persistently. The Ecuador Cloud Forest is basically a lowland rain forest and it contains more than fifteen to seventeen percent of the different plant species and almost twenty percent of the bird species of the whole world.
6-Valdivian Temperate Rainforest
On the number six, there comes another natural and most famous rain forest of the world and that is the Valdivian Temperate Rainforest. It is regarded as the third largest forest in the world, it covers more than 248,100 square kilometers area of the world. You can imagine about its length by if you compare its length with the total area of Great Britain and the Northern Ireland, even than this forest is larger. 7-The Monteverde Forest
Among the list of the largest and very famous forests of the world, The Monteverde Forest is also included and comes with the number seven. This beautiful and largest forest is basically situated in the city of Monteverde, Costa Rica. A great number of tourists from all over the world are drawn towards the Costa Rica, just because of enjoying the natural beauty of this forest. The Monteverde Forest is home to more than thirty species of the hummingbirds, more than four hundred species of other birds and one hundred species of mammals.
8-Sinharaja Rain Forests
The Sinharaja Rain Forests are regarded as the eighth most notable and largest forests of the world and most prominent and beautiful rain forests of Srilanka. The Sinharaja Rain Forests are usually located in the southwest Srilankan lowland wet zone, it was declared by UNESCO in 1978 as a biosphere reserve. These magnificent forests are considered home to a large number of endemic birds, butterflies, trees, mammals and other rare insects.
9-Tongass Temperate Rainforest
Tongass Temperate Rainforest is also included in our list of the most notable and largest forests of the world. This temperate rainforest is located on the Southeastern side of "Alaska", and it is considered the largest forest of the United States, stretching up to a size of more than 68,062 square kilometers. The Tongass Temperate Rainforest has been divided into the nineteen designated wilderness areas.
In the last, there comes another most famous and largest forest of the world and that is the Sundarbans forest of Bangladesh, Asia. This beautiful forest is more than 10,000 square kilometers large and it encompasses almost the complete Bangladesh along with the forty percent area of India. The Sundarbans forest has been now designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, it is regarded as the home of Tiger, the famous white Bengal.
